Big Walk

Come and join the BIG Community walk in Aylesbury on July 21st

To celebrate Summer, a special walk combining two of Active Communities Active Park Walks has been created for everyone to enjoy.

Take the walk any time between 10am and 1pm on July 21st. It starts at Buckingham Park Community Centre in Jubilee Square and links the walks in Buckingham Park and the Riverside.

Before you start, there is free tea or coffee, a prize draw for adults and children plus a walk pack that includes a store voucher for local use and a map.

What are “Active Park Walks”

These special park walks support the Active Communities initiative in Aylesbury and Wycombe. They offer everyone an opportunity to be a little more active by walking and exploring the local parkland or area.

There are currently four Active Park Walks in Aylesbury and five in Wycombe. Please download a map for details. The longer walks have a display board to show you the route.

Each route is then marked out by a set of wooden posts each with a QR code. Simply scan the code with your mobile phone.

When you do, you will learn more about the location, information on activity and health, the Active Communities initiative and the events, support and special news.

Riverside Walk, Aylesbury

Riverside Walk
There is a pathway for the entire walk. There is parking at the start off Meadowcroft. The path is flat except at the Bicester Road end where there is a slight incline. Note that this pathway is subject to occasional flooding so please check beforehand.

Haydon Hill, Aylesbury

Haydon Hill Walk
There is a pathway for the entire walk. There is parking off Monet Place and Goya Place. The path is flat except for slight inclines when accessing from the indicated roads.

Carlton Close, Aylesbury

There is a pathway for the entire walk though it is quite narrow. One stage is quite rough ground. There is a barrier in mid-stage. There is parking next to the walk start in Carlton Close. It is flat except for a minor incline on the final stage.

Buckingham Park Walk, Aylesbury

There is a pathway for the entire walk. There is nearby parking in Jubilee Square.

Booker Recreation Ground, Wycombe

There is a pathway for a third of the walk then grassland. There is ample parking near the walk start off Barry Close. There is a minor incline for one stage.

Mount Close, Wycombe

There is a pathway for the entire walk. There is a mild incline from the start that increases in severity from the second marker. There is very limited residential parking in Mount Close.

Rutland Avenue, Wycombe

There is a pathway for three stages of the walk, though one is narrow and on a mild incline. One stage is only accessible by steps. There is roadside parking on Rutland Avenue and Booker Lane.

Rowliff Road, Wycombe

There is a pathway for the entire walk (though this includes crossing a road). There is very limited residential parking. It is flat throughout.

Desborough Recreation Ground, Wycombe

There is a pathway for half of the walk, then grassland. There is ample parking near the walk start off Fryers Lane. The pathway is flat.
