Health and wellbeing service in Slough

This new service has been set up to help those residents in Slough.

It has been created to help all those who apply to the site to get the support and advice they need to make a difference to their lives.

To access it, local residents must simply complete an initial ‘general lifestyle assessment’ online by visiting www.healthandwellbeingslough.co.uk or phone 01753 373646 or 0800 0614734.

Stop Smoking

Quitting smoking isn’t easy, but giving up greatly improves your health and the health of those around you. Smoking causes extensive damage to your fertility, skin, teeth and energy levels. Others are affected too through second hand smoking. It is also very expensive. Stopping smoking can dramatically improve your health immediately and in the long-term.

Weight watching

Maintaining a healthy weight helps lower your risk of Heart Disease, Type 2 Diabetes, Stroke and certain cancers. We take a step by step approach with small, realistic changes to your diet and level of physical activity that make a big difference and become part of daily routine.

Drink less

We offer personal support to help you discover ways to cut back on alcohol and the benefits you’ll experience. Support is free and will help reduce your risk of developing illnesses and improve your wellbeing.

Oral Health

Healthy Smiles work with other professionals across Slough to highlight the importance of good oral health and its impact on general health, including diabetes, obesity and cancer.

Fall prevention

Falls are a major threat to adults aged 60 or over. One in ten adults who fall experience serious hip or head injuries requiring hospitalization and long-term recovery in a care facility. But falls can be prevented by making simple changes for you and your loved ones.

NHS Health Check

This 20-30-minute health check-up helps lower your risk of four common but often preventable diseases: heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease. Identifying the risk early and reducing improves the chance of maintaining or improving health as we age. All Slough residents aged between 40 and 74 are eligible.

Get moving

Becoming more active in everyday life is important for health and happiness. It is not just about exercising but moving more and sitting less as part of your daily routine. Active Movement is part of this service covering home, offices, schools, Early Years settings and community.
